The genre of the movie is action comedies and generally this is a genre that never runs short of fans. Of course, Johnny Depp brings in his own legion of crazy fans who will want to watch every Johnny Depp movie ever! Looking at just the numbers and ratings, Mortdecai is not exactly going great guns in comparison to Spy. It has got just got a score of 12 per cent on Rotten Tomatoes while Spy got a humongous 93 per cent. It fared better on IMDB, getting 5.5/10 compared to Spy’s 7.1/10. For movies that are similar to each other, if given a choice between Mortdecai and Spy, the numbers would say to go for Spy. But statistics do not tell the whole story. If you happen to enjoy action comedies, you should be watching both of these!
